In one of the most memorable moments of Royal Rumble 2021, former World Champion Christian returned to WWE. The former champion took part in the Men’s Royal Rumble match and made it to the final four.

Christian had to retire in 2014 because of multiple concussions and other injuries. Although he was a part of various shows on WWE Network, the Royal Rumble marked the seventh year since he retired.

After Christian immensely helped his best friend Edge in winning the Royal Rumble (for the second time in his career), WWE caught up with Captain Charisma backstage. Many things came to the surface, including his plans in WWE.

It was surreal to be honest with you,” said Christian about the surprise appearance. “I didn’t know what to expect. You know its funny, everybody has a plan until you get hit. And that’s exactly what happened to me. I got hit once, and I was like, ‘ok, it’s on.’ This is what I was born to do, so I felt like I was home.”

We all know how secretive WWE is about its surprise entries (just think about AJ Styles‘ WWE debut) at the Royal Rumble. The soon-to-be Hall of Famer too maintained the secrecy regarding his comeback.

He revealed he was backstage but, “I was playing coy all day in the locker room since nobody knew what was going on. It was a fun surprise.”

Could Christian get back the match WWE promised him?

The Peep show host was immensely happy for Edge and hinted it was the next best thing after his own victory, Christian spoke about his plans in WWE.

“All I was ever promised was one more match. That could be it,” he said. Few will remember the course of his retirement.

Back in March 2014, Christian earned a title shot against then-Intercontinental Champion Big E. He fought in a fatal four-way match to earn the title shot.

However, because of a concussion, he could never get the title shot he earned. Coincidentally, Big E is the Intercontinental Champion this time as well.
