It is a well-known fact in the wrestling world that WCW rejected The Undertaker before he went to WWE. Before becoming the iconic wrestling character, the higher-ups in WCW saw nothing of value in the 6′ giant who could leap and jump in the ring. It was a bizarre concept for them and WCW told Taker to leave.

But everything changed when he went to WWE. There, Vince McMahon saw the potential to make something memorable and he used Taker to make the Deadman character. Paired with over-the-top theatrics, it would get people in the audience legitimately scared. Not only did McMahon’s plan work, but it also did wonders. But what about Mark Callaway’s original plans with wrestling?

While talking about WCW’s inability to see his talent, BT Sport journalist Ariel Helwani talked about their close-mindedness. But Taker replied, “I had a few doors slammed in my face, but that one really stung because that’s where I wanted to be. I wanted to be in WCW, when I went there as me, Mark. Then to be told that ain’t nobody.

This is not the first time that Taker and WCW have come up in an interview before. While talking to one of his close friends in WWE, Henry O. Godwinn revealed that their little group, the Bone Street Krew, which included The Undertaker thought about jumping ship to the opposition in the ’90s.

The entire wrestling landscape would be entirely different if Mark Callaway would have stayed in WCW.

It would mean that there would be no Undertaker character, in WWE or WCW. But what would it look like in WCW?

What would Mark Callaway be like in WCW?

The first thing that possibly could have happened was Callaway inventing a gimmick, just like he did back in the day, the American Bada**. If the crowd reacted positively, which did happen in the early ’00s, the WCW creative would have no choice but to push Taker to the main event picture.

This would lead to Taker having great programs with the likes of Hollywood Hogan, Sting, Goldberg, DDP, and Booker T, to say the least.

Also, there could be an argument that WWE would have lost the rating battle without Taker and WCW would win it with Callaway. Just one decision and a lot of things could have shifted drastically in the wrestling world.
