Due to his tight schedule, we, unfortunately, won’t see Johnson himself returning as our favorite Akkadian warrior. Booked till 2022, we should forget the prospect of him sharing in the movie.

Although, he will be working on the project closely with his production company Seven Bucks. Johnson looks to reprise the franchise and get it back to its former glory.

“The Scorpion King was my very first role ever on the silver screen and I’m honored and excited to reimagine and deliver this cool mythology to a whole new generation,” said Johnson.

“I wouldn’t have had the career I’m lucky enough to have had it not been for The Scorpion King and I’m thrilled that we at Seven Bucks Productions can help create those same opportunities for other hardworking actors today. I believe Jonathan Herman will put in the hard work to deliver a fantastic script for our global audience.”

The Scorpion king holds a special place in the heart of Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson’s appearance in The Mummy Returns (2001) as The Scorpion King propelled his acting career. The former WWE World Champion starred in a standalone movie on the character the following year.

The movie was a big success and saw Johnson receive several offers over the next few years. However, after the first movie, the franchise has never had a stable lead role.

There have been 5 Scorpion King movies and all have had a different actor as “The Scorpion King”. No character has been constant in any movie which is why there is no major fan following for the series.

The Scorpion King now holds on to its cult following but still manages to pull in a lot of views. The Rock aims to bring back the franchise. Using technology today, a lot more can be achieved.

Jonathan Herman will be doing the writing. Since he has been called to rewrite the upcoming Fast and Furious movie and work on the Scarface remake, we can expect big things from him.
