The Rock is not just a great WWE superstar who has won multiple world championships in the company. He is also one of the members of the great Samoan legacy. The Samoans have given ample legendary wrestlers to the business.
The Rock had wrestling in his blood as his father Rocky Johnson was a wrestler and before that his grandfather High Chief Peter Maivia was a legend. The Rock has always respected his father and grandfather. The Brahma Bull didn’t get more time with Peter Maivia, but The Rock holds him high in his eyes.

High Chief Peter Maivia wrestled in various territories for a decade before finally landing in WWE, then WWWF, where he spent the next decade. While being in WWE, he still made appearances in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc as it was territory days back then.
The Flying Hawaiian was WWE’s most prominent star. During his time in the company, he worked with WWE Hall of Famers, such as Superstar Billy Graham, Ivan Putski, and Bob Backlund.
Recently, former WWE announcer Gary Michael Cappetta shared a resurfaced picture of Andre the Giant sitting on Peter Maivia’s lap. The caption said, “High Chief Peter Maivia & Andre The Giant share a fun moment before the start of an event.”

Andre was over 500lbs and we can see Maivia sitting effortlessly as he is considered one of the strongest wrestlers. Maivia and Andre were good friends and perks of it can be seen in the series Young Rock as how Andre was always too Young Dwayne Johnson under his wing.

Is The Rock returning to WWE soon?
On the recent episode of Young Rock, we saw young Roman Reigns asking young Dwayne to wrestle him. The Brahma Bull, however, neglects the request, saying that this is a WrestleMania caliber match and they should not do it now.

This was an indirect hint towards The Rock challenging The Tribal Chief for a match. Moreover, Reigns also hinted at a match against The Rock on the Peacock series EVIL episode eight. It is in the rumors that The Rock might return and have a match against Roman Reigns.
