Io Shirai made her debut through the Mae Young Classic in 2017.

In May 2020, Io Shirai defeated Charlotte and Rhea Ripley to conquer the NXT women’s championship.

This match was the Legend of NXT vs the present of NXT. A perfect way to end the first night of NXT: The American Bash.

Banks showed shades of her trademark boss” character from NXT when she entered along with Bayley in a car, along with a Chauffeur.

Both women went at each other hammer and tongs. The Blueprint showed her experience and one could see why Banks is so revered.

However, Io Shirai didn’t back down from the fight. The Genius of the Sky showed she can compete with the big stars.

The Boss took control of the match and was in a winning position with the help of her best friend Bayley.

This was when unexpectedly, The Raw Women’s champion Asuka appeared and showered Banks with some green mist.

Shirai took advantage and defeated Sasha Banks in a classic. Definitely, a great way to end night one of NXT: The Great American Bash.
