“They had me slap him if I remember correctly. And that was going to get his attention. I was the ‘Legend Killer’. I had a good 2004. It was like, ‘Tonight you’re going to start your angle with Taker going into WrestleMania. Just haul off and slap him. And make sure you slap him real good.’

“And I’m thinking, ‘Holy crap, the receipt on this is gonna be something for the ages’,” Orton said.

The hype worked and fans were thrilled to see both Superstars face off. Slapping someone such as The Undertaker, who has withheld one of the most fearful gimmicks in WWE history heated things up.

The background

Orton was portrayed as the Superstar who did not fear Taker at all. Orton was in red hot form during 2004, where he became the ‘Youngest World Champion’ at just 24 years of age.

After losing the title to Triple H, he would go on with some feuds. Later in 2005, Orton was confronted by Billy Graham who asked him to, “Go Where no wrestler had gone before.”

Orton taking the advice of Billy Graham became ‘The Legend Killer’. He claimed he would make history, ending Undertaker’s streak. Orton would then go about taunting Undertaker and lead attacks with the help of his father Bob Orton.

Their feud did not end at WrestleMania and would go on further. Orton had his fair share of wins against Taker. The feud finally came to an end at Hell in a Cell 2005. It was one of the longest rivalries the WWE universe had witnessed.

Will the two Superstars face each other again?

There are chances that WWE could pit them against each other one last time. Undertaker has mentioned on many occasions how he is looking for the perfect closure. Perhaps a match with Orton could set things right for Taker to retire.

That is up to WWE to decide.
