“Vince Never Forgave Me” – The Undertaker Recalls a Rare Moment When He “Won” a Creative Battle With Vince McMahon

There is a reason why The Undertaker is an iconic name in the history of WWE. Mark Calaway made sure never to break character and lived the gimmick even while he was not performing. However, after all he did for WWE Vince McMahon has not forgiven Taker over one particular moment that happened in Seattle years ago.

Taker recalls how Booker T and Vince McMahon tried to make him do a Taker-Roonie aka Booker T’s Spin-A-Roonie after a show had gone off air.

Recently, The Deadman appeared in an interview with Chris Van Vliet. He shared how one night Booker T got the mic and announced The American Badass will do a Spin-A-Roonie after a dark match.

The Phenom’s immediate reaction was, “You son of a…and I was pi**ed.” Furthermore, after some time The Rock, Triple H, Big Show, and everyone came out. Moreover, they started doing their “awful Spin-A-Roonies” while Taker was looking for a spot to run.

The seven-time world champion said, “I headed back to the back, looked over my shoulder, and here comes Big Show. Vincent sent Big Show to come to get me, right. He comes through the curtain and I said, ‘You may kill me to eat me but I will punch you in the face if you touch me.”

He added, “Vince never forgave me because I always told him (Vince McMahon), ‘I don’t care who you are, what you do, you’ll never get me to do that.’ And you don’t tell Vince that you can’t or won’t do something, because it becomes his passion in life. But I can honestly say he never got me to do a Takeroonie. So, I won. That’s the one battle I won with Vince.”

The crowd was hot and wanted to see Taker doing the move. However, he saw an opening and ran backstage. McMahon wasn’t able to make Taker do a Taker-Roonie. The Phenom had also addressed at the Hall of Fame 2022 and took a shot at ‘Vinnie-Mac’ about this in his Hall of Fame speech.

Taker recalls The Rock trying to break his character

Chris Van Vliet asked Taker about Triple H sharing stories of The Rock inventing “People’s Elbow” to break Taker’s character on-air. However, The Deadman had a hilariously respectful reply.

Taker said, “I do, I always thought that was the hokiest thing ever but iconic and always to gets me laugh.”

The Phenom recalled that was the time when breaking his character was a “goal” of everyone as he strictly adhered to his in-ring persona.
