Jey Uso vs Daniel Bryan

Jey Uso faced Daniel Bryan in the main event of Smackdown. The winner would qualify for Team Smackdown in their battle for brand supremacy at Survivor Series.

The match was a very good and physical one with Jey Uso bringing the fight to the former WWE Champion. Bryan managed to wear Uso down on a couple of occasions but the Samoan would not stay down.

Halfway through the match, Roman Reigns marched down to the ring to get a better view of his cousin’s performance. Jey Uso was relentless in spite of the Tribal Chief watching closely.

He managed to counter a belly-to-back suplex from the top rope into a splash in mid-air for a nearfall. He cut off Bryan’s corner dropkicks with a devastating superkick, and the splash from the top rope sealed Uso’s spot at Survivor Series.

Wicked post-match and post-show attacks

Unfortunately for Daniel Bryan, his night did not end there. Roman Reigns signaled for Jey to unleash more pain on Bryan and Uso loyally followed his Chief’s orders.

He hit Bryan with another splash in the ring, followed by a splash through the announcer’s desk. The attack continued after SmackDown went off the air.

Doctors, officials and EMT’s arrived to scrape Daniel Bryan off the arena floor. Uso would not allow them to do so, tipping over the stretcher and sending Bryan knee first into the barricade.

He then released him from the stretcher and hit him with another splash in the middle of the ring. All this while, Uso looked confused and sometimes shocked at his own actions. This was very reminiscent of Reigns’ attacks on Jey Uso.

The post-match assault does mean that Jey has aligned with his cousin. The Universal Champion now seems bulletproof with Jey Uso acting as his hitman.

Daniel Bryan could be out for several weeks but would make a fine opponent for Roman Reigns down the line. As of now, Uso joins Kevin Owens on Team SmackDown.
