Raquel Gonzalez etched her name in the history books as she defeated Io Shirai to become the new NXT Women’s Champion! She kept on her momentum and turned the tide against the ‘Genius of the Sky,’ ending her reign at 304 days. Although she is a dominant force in the ring, her first title victory made her soft outside of it.

Emotions speak louder for Raquel Gonzalez following the NXT Championship win

Raquel Gonzalez and Io Shirai fought in an exciting contest for the NXT Women’s Championship in the main event of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver. There was a time when Gonzalez wasn’t being used on TV. During that time, she worked on her wrestling skills and physique. She made her return to NXT last year at TakeOver: Portland. One year later, ‘Big Mami Cool’ is the new NXT Women’s Champion. Not to forget, she was also the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Dakota Kai.

Raquel Gonzalez’s reign of dominance has just begun. And we believe she will hold on to the title for at least more than six months. With some new faces like Zoey Stark, Sarray, Franky Monet coming in, Gonzalez must be prepared at all times! It’s one thing to win the championship, and another to defend it successfully.
