John Cena has made the transition from wrestling to Hollywood look like a cakewalk. Like his ability to entertain in WWE, he has displayed immense smoothness in his acting chops. While the WWE fandom does miss Cena on regular programming, they do get to see him from time to time on the big screen.

Having been cast as an important character in the DCEU doesn’t hurt either. The Franchise Player has been immense in his portrayal of the notorious DC anti-hero Peacemaker. Moreover, Cena once commented on a major MCU superhero Iron Man many moons ago.

Cena appeared in a 2018 episode of the WIRED Robot Quiz. In one of the sections, an image of a movie or TV character was shown to him and he was asked whether it was a human or a robot. Fan favorite Iron Man appeared as one of the characters. The Cenation Leader had a hilarious reply ready.

He said, This is Iron Man so underneath there’s a human but the human has a weird heart replacement. So this brings us to weird questions like, when is something really alive? Because of like the weird sense of Iron-y see what I did there, it’s human because of the human underneath the suit.”

Played by the enigmatic Robert Downey Jr., the live version of the famous Marvel Comics character was an absolute hit among the masses. And by the looks of it, Cena also possessed quite a good knowledge about the superhero character.

Little would the 16-time world champion have known that he would be cast in the rival DCEU some years later. He first appeared in DC movies as the Peacemaker in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad.

Cena’s work struck quite a chord with the audience as it resulted in a spin-off for the character. The first season of the Peacemaker series released in early 2022. And it seems we might get to see more of The Doctor of Thuganomics in the DCEU.

Cena’s DCEU journey seems set to continue

The new co-CEO of the universe James Gunn’s recent social media activity certainly suggests so. He recently responded to a fan tweet that discussed him working with Cena and fellow wrestler-turned-actor Batista. The visionary director has helmed the MCU movie Guardians of The Galaxy series that features ‘The Animal’. Gunn was appreciative of both on a human level more than their acting talents.

His response indicates that Cena’s journey with DCEU is set to continue unlike Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill whose respective Black Adam and Superman characters have been put on the back burner by the studio.

DCEU has been one step behind MCU movies with regard to their collections. The John Cena video is from a time when the latter was at its peak popularity. But with the appointment of James Gunn at the top and with actors like Cena on board, there are surely exciting times ahead for the DC fans.
