On May 21, 2021, long-serving WWE artist Rob Schamberger took to Twitter to express his views on the news of Velveteen Dream’s WWE release. In the tweet, he announced Dream as “the single most unprofessional person” he has encountered in the business. Schamberger also added that Dream needs to do emotional work to become a better person. The tweet read,
“Without saying anything further: He was the single most unprofessional person I’ve encountered in this business. I hope this is the wake up call he needs to start doing the emotional work to become a better person. All told.”

The tweet had no mention or name of Velveteen Dream, but everyone knew who Rob Schamberger was pointing towards.
Dream signed with WWE in 2015, after a run on the sixth season of ‘WWE Tough Enough’ in the same year. Velveteen last performed on WWE TV during an episode of NXT in December, in a losing effort to Adam Cole.
Velveteen’s controversial exit
Dream’s real name is Patrick Clark and signed with WWE in 2015. He officially made his debut as the Velveteen Dream in 2017.
Despite being introduced as a heel, he became very popular amongst fans with his prince-inspired character. In fact, he even became a one-time NXT North American champion.
Velveteen held the title for 209 days before dropping it to Roderick Strong. He won the NXT year-end award for rivalry of the year with Aleister Black back in 2017. Dream even won the best gimmick in 2018 in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards.
Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful tweeted a direct quote from Dream. He said,
“Im not gonna tell you what I just heard but I know you will hear it soon enough so I’ll just say, it’s true.”

At the time, we cannot exactly confirm on what grounds Velveteen Dream was released. According to reports, there were some controversies regarding Dream and his conduct in the company.
