Recently, Booker T did a segment on the Hall of Fame Podcast with Brad Gilmore where he spoke about Rusev.

Just to recap, Rusev started having issues with his position in WWE and how he was being booked.

Finally, in 2019, when Rusev’s contract was about to end, WWE made it a top priority to re-sign him. As a result, Rusev suddenly found himself being a part of one of the craziest storylines in WWE history.

It involved a love triangle between him, Lashley, and Lana.

The storyline became the talk of the town for weeks afterward and increased Rusev’s TV-time.

This storyline was basically WWE’s attempt to get Rusev to re-sign with them. However, the fan response wasn’t very good and it soon turned into a mockery with WWE even staging a wedding between Bobby Lashley and Lana.

Nevertheless, the time arrived when Rusev was not a part of WWE anymore due to contract disputes.

Booker T talks about Rusev as a part of Impact

It all started with Gilmore mentioning Rusev and how he believes that Rusev is one person he can build a company around.

Not only that, Gilmore adds that if he had a company he would bring in Rusev as a heel like Brock Lesnar. He goes on to comparing Rusev with Bobby Lashley from when he was in TNA.

Furthermore, he believes that Miro (short for Miroslav, Rusev’s real name) will benefit the company that finally acquires him.

“Someone who can go in there. He is the big, mean, nasty, powerful unstoppable heel and you could really do a great run. You know TNA when they had Bobby there. They kind of made Bobby that for a  minute. Bobby was the unbeatable world champion heel guy and I think Rusev could fill that position, maybe for impact. I think that would be a great landing spot for him.”

Booker T believes that the time off has done Rusev some good as well. In fact, he has gotten himself into great shape.

Most of the guys do not get any rest. So the time off has been really good for them and it has helped their bodies recover.

In fact, Booker T believes that Impact will be a good launching pad for them. On the other hand, if they do it right then guys like Rusev have the power to make the company something huge with the talent they bring to the table.

However, even at these stages, each of them needs to make the right decision to make the company mean something.

“Hopefully Impact will be a launching pad, you know, back to something big and better. There again, if they do the right things with Impact, they can make that company really really mean something.”
