WWE Hall of Famer Wants Edge To Win The Universal Title “One More Time”

WWE Hall of Famer Edge put up an illustrious display at WrestleMania. Edge is eyeing the Universal title, and it is safe to say, his dreams and aspirations are not only his own. His former rival Bubba Ray Dudley too expressed his support in favor of Edge.

Everyone still remembers the feud between the Dudley Brothers and the team of Edge and Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship in 2000. Both the teams locked horns on numerable occasions. Their fierce rivalry and impeccable action offered wild entertainment for the wrestling fans.

However, breaking away from the old rivalry, Bubba Dudley recently expressed his inner desires on WWE The Bump. The Hall of Famer spoke highly of Edge’s aspirations and wants him to clinch the championship once again.

Edge lost to Roman Reigns at WM 37 during their triple threat match. However, Dudley said, “I want to see Edge continue to chase that championship and finally hold it in his hands one more time.”

Edge was a multi-time World title winner ahead of his forced retirement

The “Rated-R superstar” holds a special place in the wrestling world because of his immense contribution. The 47-year-old, who performs on the SmackDown brand, has won 31 championship titles.

Out of these, 12 are from World Tag Team Championship titles. His most successful period was with his tag team partner, Christian. The duo won 7 titles together in a span reigning from 1999 to 2001.

The veteran wrestler held the World Heavyweight Championship a record seven times, the WWE Championship four times, the Intercontinental Championship five times, the US Championship once, and the WWE Tag team championship twice.

Because of several neck injuries, the wrestler had to retire from wrestling in the year 2011. WWE promptly inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2012 for his lifelong contribution to wrestling.

Edge returned to action in 2020 in the Royal Rumble match. He became the first man to win the Royal Rumble in 2021 after being inducted into the Hall of Fame. His feat was marvelous, as he was the number one entrant.

Interestingly, he has never won the Universal title as it was conceptualized years after his retirement. Thus, it made his aspirations more valid. Although not at WrestleMania, could Edge win the title anytime soon? Let us know in the comments below.
