In the spotlight right now is WWE Superstar Kevin Owens and what his future in WWE looks like. There are possibilities that WWE has a major storyline queued up for him, but are waiting for the right time to drop it.

Kevin Owens being a face has been quite unusual really. It’s just…not Kevin Owens. Siding with Rey Mysterio in his feud against Seth Rollins, Owens plays a side role in the entire scenario.

It does sometimes feel that Owens isn’t supposed to be there, given his talents. Kevin Owens was one of the most successful heels when he first made the headlines a few years ago.

His ability to get the crowd absolutely riled up is extraordinary and the man is the very definition of heel. The face role, although pulled off well, doesn’t suit him as much.

WWE could be planning a huge heel turn for Owens in the near future after his partnership with Rey Mysterio runs its course. He will once again show up as the Kevin Owens we know and love.

Kevin Owens was notorious as a heel

As a heel, Kevin Owens conquered WWE, winning the Universal Championship and crushing all his competitors.

Poor booking after that major storyline ended has resulted in him being somewhat of a sideshow. A Superstar like him must always be front and center.

A major factor to be taken into consideration for WWE to re-channel the heel in Owens is the crowd. For a heel turn to successfully be pulled off, the audience and crowd reaction is the unsurpassable necessity.

If you doubt that, think about what the Mark Henry fake retirement segment would have been like without the crowd reaction. As a requirement, WWE will hold that card in its pocket until the fans fill the stands once more.

Using the massive time they have now, WWE could spend it building the storylines and developing new ones. They could climax each and every one of them when the crowd returns to spike up viewership ratings once more.

WWE could take a nice and long time brewing the Kevin Owens heel moment and could build up well to it. A successful heel takes months of careful planning before executing it when the crowd least expects it.

It’s probability is unlikely, but think about how it would be if Kevin Owens betrays Rey Mysterio! It is fun to think about, but WWE may have something bigger in store for one of the best heel potentials they have right now.
