The Brahma Bull went one-on-one with Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship title on the March 31, 1977, episode of Monday Night Raw. Rocky Maivia kept the gold title against The Hitman by a DQ finish. Bret Hart, in his book, revealed that Triple H pushed for him to beat Rocky.

However, the challenger did not find any reason to beat Rocky Maivia at the title match, as it would not have built any heat for Bret Hart’s heel turn. Hart winning the game would have only sabotaged the real young talent such as The Rock.
