It’s possible he will come back at the event and then challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

“The most recent plans that Fightful had heard of were that Goldberg would be challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. The match was set to take place for the title two years ago at WrestleMania, but Reigns withdrew from the match at the start of the pandemic and didn’t return until August 2020.”

Considering Brock Lesnar is working in the Elimination Chamber match at the event, Roman Reigns’ challenger’s spot remains empty. As a result, this is the perfect opportunity to finally have the Goldberg vs Reigns match from 2020.

This could be the final match Goldberg works in

Previously, Goldberg had stated that his contract with WWE runs through 2023. However, he also revealed there’s only one match left in his contract.

If he hasn’t negotiated a new deal with the company, this could be his final WWE match.

The last time ‘The Icon’ was in WWE, he went up against Bobby Lashley. Their match at SummerSlam 2021 led to a massive rematch at Crown Jewel 2021.

At the Crown Jewel match, Goldberg was set upon seeking revenge. His only focus was to bury Bobby Lashley after The Almighty unknowingly hurt Gage Goldberg.

Therefore, in the final moments of the match, Goldberg destroyed Bobby Lashley by spearing him off the ramp.

The match also showcased that age hasn’t slowed him down. Keeping that in mind and that the 2022 return could be his final match, it’s expected WWE will book him in a massive match which will have a significant impact on the WWE Universe.
