NFL Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster John Madden passed away at 85. This shocking news has left NFL Teams, Players and Fans devastated. After all, he was the heart and soul of the NFL.

It is a sad day as the NFL Universe lost as big a personality. Madden was the coach for the renegade Oakland Raiders, with a voracious record of victory. He brought seven AFC titles and won the Super Bowl following the 1976 season. His winning percentage of 75.9% was the highest among the coaches in NFL history.

The NFL released a statement after John Madden’s sad demise on Tuesday morning. As of this writing, the cause of John Madden’s death has not been revealed.

The NFL released a statement honoring the legacy of John Madden. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned how devastated the whole fraternity was. Furthermore, it acknowledged the eminence of the Hall of Famer Coach of the Oakland Raiders, and how his contribution towards most major networks and as a commentator but more than that, he was also a loving husband, father, and grandpa.

“Nobody loved football more than Coach. He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others. There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today,” said NFL in a statement.

The death of John Madden not only shocked the World of NFL but also the entire sports industry. WWE Legend, The Iron Sheik, also expressed his grief over the demise of NFL Legend.

Madden played a major role in bringing the NFL to new heights. He retired as a coach for the Oakland Raiders at 42 and assumed other roles soon after.

After his retirement as a coach in 1979, he joined the CBC network as the color commentator and later was promoted to the position of the top commentator on board.
