Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has transitioned from pro wrestling into acting like none. And as years went by, he kept on delivering hits after hits. But Dwayne Johnson is not the only pro wrestler to do films.
Stone Cold Steve Austin also appeared in films. Back in 2005, a press conference took place between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon to announce Austin had signed a deal with WWE films.
WWE Films (now known as WWE Studios) is an American film studio owned by WWE. WWE Studios movies mix actors and actresses in lead roles with WWE wrestlers, and teams with existing production and distribution companies to deliver the product at a cheaper cost.

By 2005, The Rock has already made his mark in Hollywood. Besides doing films with WWE Films, he did some other movies in 2005 and in the future.
Referencing to the above mentioned press conference during an episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, Conrad Thompson asked Prichard if the timing of this press conference a coincident with everything that was going on with The Rock at that time.
In reply, Bruce Prichard said, “It was a coincidence in that we were doing the Steve Austin movie at the time. It had nothing to do with The Rock at all.”
He further added, “I am sure there always has been [competitiveness between The Rock and Steve Austin]. This is more of a WWE studio saying than anything. They had absolutely zero. ‘Oh my God, well, The Rock’s not going to join. We will get Steve do a movie’. Zero truth to that in any way, shape or form.”
