WWE Legend The Undertaker Pays Tribute to Long-Time Manager Paul Bearer

Almost three decades ago, on November 22, 1990, The Undertaker made his debut at Survivor Series, and the rest is history. After being passed on by Brother Love, a spooky man with an urn and an eerie “Ooh, yessss” joined forces with The Phenom.

Paul Bearer was a major mainstay of WWE Programming. It was Bearer’s eerie voice coupled with The Undertaker’s extraordinary character and wrestling prowess that made this duo the most feared in professional wrestling history.

From being with The Deadman to joining forces with his arch-rival Mankind and later his on-screen brother, Kane – Paul Bearer did justice to every storyline he was a part of.

The Undertaker Recalls Paul Bearer’s Legacy

The Undertaker recently posted a video on Twitter, which is an excerpt from the upcoming WWE Network documentary on Paul Bearer with the caption, “Paul Bearer was an iconic manager in front of and behind the curtain and was a great friend. I hope this shows just a portion of the man he was and the role he played in helping make The Undertaker so successful.”

In this video, you can see The Phenom and other WWE Legends Mankind and Kane paying tribute and sharing stories of the WWE Hall Of Famer.

“He loved being a character. That’s where his heart and his passion was at,” said The Undertaker.

The Undertaker’s storyline brother, WWE Legend Kane, recalled, “WWE has this great big family, and he was just naturally in the middle of it.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley also said, “Everyone respected him. Everyone liked him. Everyone played along with his jokes.”

The Undertaker continued, “We were so opposite ends of the spectrum. Paul Bearer had the creepy, squeaky loud voice. And then I didn’t say much, but when I did, it was low, slow.” He also said, “I don’t know if it takes off at the speed that it does without a Paul Bearer.”

Paul Bearer was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2014. May it be storylines around the urn, turning on The Deadman, setting face ablaze using a fireball, or the events leading to the debut of Kane – The number of memorable moments brought by him and The Undertaker will forever be fresh in a real wrestling fan’s memory.
