Sami Zayn got a chance to become the challenger for the Universal Championship on WWE SmackDown’s January 8, 2020 episode.

This would have been the perfect opportunity for him to get back at Roman Reigns after ‘The Tribal Chief’ schooled him on Twitter.

As a part of the number one contender’s Gauntlet Match, Zayn started off with Rey Mysterio on the opposite side of the ring.

Considering that Zayn was the Intercontinental Champion until recently, the audience expected him to put up a brilliant performance. Unfortunately for him, Mysterio defeated Zayn in under a minute. It took Mysterio two kicks and a jump from the top of the ropes to eliminate Sami Zayn.

Zayn’s speech before he entered the ring lasted longer than the time he lasted inside the ring.
