WWE NXT Takeover is just a few weeks away and the excitement towards the event is already building up, thanks to a mystery Superstar. As soon as Damien Priest defeated Austin Theory, WWE aired a cryptic vignette.

A mystery person was walking around Full Sail University, and their voice was distorted. In front of them, there was a glass case with the older design of the NXT Championship.

“I’m not sure what happened. I helped create something out of my own blood,” a distorted voice said over the footage. “Years and years of dedication, only to be taken over by paper champions. These NXT Championships have been in isolation for far too long. Now, I’ve come back to take what is mine.”

Moments before the promo ended, the mystery person broke the case and took the title. The video then ended with 10.04.20 (date of the next NXT Takeover) flashing on the screen.

Which former WWE NXT Champion could return at Takeover?

Even though the Superstar is shrouded in mystery, he/she has left us a lot of hints. Due to the distorted voice, it is difficult to identify if it is a male or female Superstar.

However, two huge clues narrow down our search to a very small group of Superstars. One, this Superstar is a former NXT Champion. Secondly, they mention that they have created this place from their blood – which means this is one of the inaugural NXT Champions,.

One of the prime suspects who fits this category is Robert Roode. The ‘Glorious One’ didn’t have a great career on the main roster. However, he was NXT champion for over 200 days.

In 2020, he made a name in the tag team division along with Dolph Ziggler, but he has been missing since April because of COVID travel issues. This could be the perfect time for Roode to rebuild his career just like Finn Balor.

The other guess is former NXT Champion Bo Dallas. He was probably the most successful NXT Superstar who crashed badly on the main roster. Bo Dallas was NXT Champion for 260 days.

He currently ticks both the boxes as he is a former NXT Champion and was there since the inception of Triple H’s version of NXT.
