WWE to Honor Real Life Hero Who Gave His Life to Save Son

WWE has its own way of honoring legends and heroes. It’s not always a special mention or a Hall of Fame induction. Therefore, when WWE decided to honor Late Shad Gaspard, they took a different approach.

Reportedly, the company is honoring Gaspard with the 2022 Warrior Award. And, there is no one else who deserves it more than he does.

Gaspard lost his life in 2020 after he went swimming with his ten-year-old son. They were swimming near Venice Beach and got caught in a strong current where giant waves were crashing down on them. The lifeguards reached them, but the 39-year-old ushered them to save his son first. Tragically, the former WWE superstar couldn’t make it.

His wife, Siliana Gaspard, will be accepting the award on his behalf.

Shad Gaspard had a short-lived WWE run

Gaspard signed a WWE Developmental Contract in 2003 and worked at Ohio Valley Wrestling. He secured the OVW Tag Team Titles twice with JTG, as a part of Cryme Tyme. The team moved to the main roster in 2006, but WWE released both of them the following year.

Cryme Tyme made a WWE comeback in 2008, but the company released Gaspard again in 2010.

Following his wrestling career, Shad Gaspard pursued a career in Hollywood where he worked in series and movies.

He did return to the independent circuit in 2011 and continued to work in the independent circuit until his untimely death in 2020. In 2014, Gaspard and JTG reunited as a tag team with the name Crime Time.

Undoubtedly, Gaspard had a whole career ahead of him. His tragic and untimely death cast over the wrestling industry like a dark cloud.

While wounds heal and people move on, the impact is never forgotten. Therefore, WWE deciding to honor Shad Gaspard at the Hall of Fame ceremony has been in the works for a while now.

It was known that WWE would honor Gaspard in some way, but exactly in what way was unknown.

The Warrior Award is perfect to commemorate Shad Gaspard’s memory and heroic act.
