Stone Cold Steve Austin remains the most important superstar in WWE history. The Texas Rattlesnake led the WWE locker room through some of the toughest moments in company history. Apart from being a locker room leader, he was a damn fine wrestler and his body of work is legendary. Some may even compare his contributions to wrestling to that of Michal Jordan’s to basketball.

According to former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia, the producers of Michael Jordan’s ‘The Last Dance’ documentary are working on a documentary about Steve Austin.  This is huge news for the WWE Hall of Famer and WWE itself. The Last Dance documentary received plaudits from critics and fans. A documentary about the Texas Rattlesnake will surely be a groundbreaking one.

Garcia revealed the news during an interview on The Chris Van Vliet Show, where she said she would be a part of the new film. “WWE contacted me and they said the producers from The Last Dance are going to reach out to you,” Garcia told host Chris Van Vliet. “They want you in their documentary. It’s crazy because when I got the message I was literally just watching The Last Dance documentary.”

Steve Austin is WWE’s most important superstar

Steve Austin’s career in WWE began in 1995, as a part of the Million Dollar Corporation. Austin rose to prominence after winning the 1996 King of the Ring, where he became ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. He cut the legendary Austin 3:16 promo which shot him into superstardom. He was faced Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 in what is one of the best WrestleMania matches. The following WrestleMania, he beat Shawn Michaels for the WWF Title.

Austin’s rivalry with The Rock deserves a documentary of its own. They faced each other at three WrestleMania’s, two of them main events and one Austin’s final match. The highest paid actor in Hollywood is Austin’s biggest rival, and their matches are some of the most chaotic in history. It is this rivalry that provided WWE with the impetus to outperform WCW in the Monday Night Wars.

Steve Austin was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. He made his last appearance in WWE before WrestleMania 36. He shared the ring with former Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and even delivered Stunner’s to the Street Profits after the show went off the air. Austin even has a podcast which is featured on the WWE Network.
