WWE released Jeff Hardy from his contract in December 2021. The exact nature of the release was controversial and sparked extreme reactions from the fans.

Now, it seems as though the company is trying to resolve their issues with Hardy, and maybe bring him back. According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Laurinaitis reached out to Jeff Hardy for the Hall of Fame induction.

The company wanted to give him a spot in the Hall of Fame 2022 batch, but Jeff Hardy declined the offer. On the other hand, he asked for the results of his toxicity test, which he had to go through when released by the company.

Jeff Hardy’s Actions Made WWE Helpless

It doesn’t seem like WWE will be very successful in resolving issues with Hardy. In fact, Hardy has already moved on and is reuniting with Matt Hardy at Big Time Wrestling on March 12th, 2022.

WWE released Jeff Hardy after a dark match mishap

The former WWE Superstar had teamed up with Drew McIntyre and Xavier Woods to take on The Bloodline. During the match, Hardy didn’t look extremely well-off, and he left halfway through the match after tagging out. The company sent him home the following day on December 5th.

Now, WWE wanted Hardy to go through with rehab on account that he may have fallen off the wagon. Unfortunately, Hardy refused to do the same, and ultimately, the company had to release him.

While all decisions were made keeping in mind the well-being of everyone, Hardy and WWE parted ways on a sour note. But bringing Hardy back could have a hidden agenda for WWE.

When Jeff Hardy’s non-compete clause ends in March, he is free to join any promotion he likes. The highest chances are of him joining AEW where his brother, Matt Hardy, is already thriving.

The brothers were a popular tag team during their time in WWE, and they could possibly recreate the same if both of them work with AEW.

This would be an insane boost to AEW’s ratings- something which WWE would potentially like to avoid.
