It’s safe to say that 2020 is one of the worst years that the world has seen in a long time. Unfortunately, it has given us another reason to mourn as legendary TV personality Regis Philbin has passed away.
The iconic host of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” reportedly died of natural causes at the age of 88, just one month short of his 89th birthday. ‘The hardest working man in Showbiz’ donned many hats over the years.
One of the many things that he turned to gold with his Midas touch was professional wrestling. While many people rremember Philbin for his razor sharp wit on his talk shows, professional wrestling fans recall his appearance at WrestleMania VII with a tinge of nostalgia.

The year was 1991 and The Undertaker wasn’t the hottest thing in professional wrestling. In fact, he was one among the many cartoonish, larger than life characters who populated the professional wrestling scene in the golden era.
Regis Philbin was the guest host for WrestleMania VII and he was ready backstage to conduct an interview. Out came the spooky Undertaker and his eerie manager Paul Bearer.

In a hilarious sequence, Philbin kept cracking his jokes while Taker measured him up (quite literally), probably for a potential burial.
However, that was not all for Philbin. He brought his talents to the commentary desk for the big main even featuring the WWE Champion Sgt. Slaughter and the legendary Hulk Hogan.
It’s so overwhelming to think of the sheer emotional energy in the professional wrestling world at the time, seeing the Hulkster slaying another villain with one of the greatest TV hosts calling the match.
