“You Can Spot It”: WWE Legend Reveals the Man Behind ‘Cowboy’ Brock Lesnar and It’s Not Paul Heyman

One thing that none of us saw coming was Brock Lesnar being cheered as he took down superstars left and right in 2021. The Beast Incarnate was not feared by the public anymore. He became their savior from the company’s fresh face, Roman Reigns. But how did it all come about? Well, one WWE legend says it was the genius of the boss, Vince McMahon.

Starting in the developmental at that time, Brock Lesnar was in a tag team with Shelton Benjamin at arrival. But soon he would get his main roster bump and what a bump it would be. Becoming the youngest to hold the WWE Championship at that moment, as well as crushing giants and legends in his path, Lesnar was unstoppable.

But it would all come to an end as Brock Lesnar would leave the company. Citing his decreasing health and not being able to adapt to the hectic WWE schedule, the Beast would turn to the UFC. And this would prove to save his career as he built a menacing presence in the Octagon. This would transition perfectly to WWE, where he appeared at his leisure.

Many championship reigns and WrestleMania main events later, Brock Lesnar would become stale in the minds of the public. The fans loved him still, but his repeated schtick sold fewer tickets on every return. So, in 2022, Brock Lesnar would come out as a cheerful, happy-go-lucky cowboy, smiling as he walked down the ramp, threatening to end Reigns‘s title reign.

On the Swerve City podcast, Chris Jericho opened up about the influence of Vince McMahon in WWE. He said, “Look at the difference between Drew McIntyre now, prior to the last run he had. Vince worked with him to make him a top guy and top star. Same with Roman (Reigns). Completely different now than it was before he turned heel. Brock as a babyface, I can tell Vince worked with him as being a babyface. You can spot it. I can see it. Tough guys usually don’t want to smile.
