Sometimes, difficult situations put a person in such positions that they have no other choice but to be a leader. This is exactly what The Undertaker had to do when his body was telling him to stop.

During an episode on Busted Open, Tommy Dreamer spoke about the time The Deadman rose to the occasion and showed everyone what he was made of. He had to go up against Kurt Angle in a three-segment match. Unfortunately, he was put on IVs before the match because of declining health.

“He was sick in Houston and he was supposed to wrestle Kurt Angle in a three-segment match. Wrestling Kurt Angle is hard, and he was sick man, sicker than I’ve ever seen somebody before and ‘not moving’ sick, ‘chills’ sick. We all just kept on checking on him. Like a true leader, slowly, as the show is going on and on, he starts putting on his boots. And they’re literally telling the man, ‘You don’t have to do this’.”

But The Phenom knew he had to do this.

The Undertaker put his health on the line for WWE

Regardless of what everyone told him, The Undertaker knew what he had to do. As he never backed away from his responsibility as a WWE Superstar, he entered the ring and competed against Kurt Angle.

“He has two IVs in his arms and it was like, ‘Hey, man, you’re up next’. The doctors pull out an IV, pull out an IV, someone’s there holding his coat, and ‘hey man, you’re up’. And, he just got off that table and just walked there. All the boys were like, you know, the proverbial moment where everyone is just clapping him on. He went out there and tore it up!” said Tommy Dreamer on the Busted Open Podcast.
