The popularity of WWE is widespread and when it comes to pro wrestling, WWE is the first name every individual thinks of. WWE has had major shows outside the USA in Canada, the UK, and also in recent years in Saudi Arabia and Australia.

Recently, WWE announced their first major WWE Stadium event in the UK in over 30 years. They shared the news on their official Twitter account. The caption said, “BREAKING: For the first time in 30 years, WWE will bring a major stadium event to the United Kingdom at @principalitysta in Cardiff, Wales this September!”

The event will take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday 3 September 2022. However, the show’s name is yet to be announced.

Drew McIntyre took no time to react to it and shared his emotions on Twitter, “2 years ago I became WWE Champion and made it my mission to bring a major show to the UK…WE DID IT!!!”

WWE had major plans for organizing a show in the UK for a long period. The last time WWE had a stadium show in the country was in 1992. The event was SummerSlam, which was the first time the company took a Premium Live Event across American Borders.

We widely remember the 1992 SummerSlam for the classic match between Bret The Hitman Hart vs The Hometown Hero that night, The British Bulldog for the Intercontinental Championship. The event was at the prestigious Wembley Stadium, London, England.

With WWE having its own separate NXT UK division and several superstars from the British soil this year, the UK event will be bigger for the fans present in the arena.

Fans react to the announcement of the WWE UK Premium Event

This fan is very excited about the show to be held in Wales, UK, “Yes Wales really! Aside from ONE NXT UK Takeover Wales has been shafted for YEARS when it comes to WWE touring. We’ve never even had a TV taping for Raw or Smackdown so absolutely 100% its time we get our fair share!:

It impressed Eddy with the choice of arena, “Stadium that can hold plenty with a retractable roof, stadium that’s right in the middle of the city centre with good transport links in and out. I think it’s perfect tbh”

Apart from the SummerSlam 1992 event, WWE did host a Premium Live Event 19 years back in 2003. The event was Insurrextion, which had overall nine matches, but it was not a stadium event, however.

The event was at Telewest Arena in Newcastle, England, and was an exclusive show for the RAW superstars. The main event was for the World Heavyweight Championship featuring Triple H defending his belt against Kevin Nash in a Street Fight.
