Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon has always been the most authoritative figure present in the company. He was well-respected as well as feared by many. However, he was also responsible for bringing about a change in the company.

Under his guidance, WWE went from a regional promotion to being an international giant. McMahon had a huge role in making WWE so successful. However, because of his controversies, he was often a figure of gossip. And it was also one of the controversies that led him into retiring from the business.

Vince’s authoritative figure led to a non-nonsense behavior policy. He tolerated no nonsense and always liked being to the point. However, in a 2021 episode of the Kurt Angle Show, Angle revealed an incident where he almost got engaged with McMahon into a fistfight.

Angle claimed the incident took place during the time when John Cena was starting to receive his push, and Angle was not receiving much attention from the company. He began, I went to Vince’s office, I was with my manager, Dave, and in the office were Shane McMahon, Johnny Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon. They were sitting at a table. I walk in, and Vince tells us to sit down, and we both sit down.”

He then claimed that as he sat down, he saw bundles of papers displaying text messages and voice-mails that Kurt Angle had sent to Vince McMahon, and all of which were extremely threatening. Angle stated that initially he did not remember sending those but as time passed by, he recollected texting McMahon those messages under the influence of a painkiller.

The Olympic medalist claimed that he never wrestled while under influence. However, the moment the show was over, he would take medication and then pass out.

Angle said, I was letting my frustrations out by texting Vince because Vince was distancing himself from me, this particular time cause my behavior was erratic. I was getting injured, I was pushing them to get the title, I was pushing to get on PPVs, for the reason I wanted to get paid.”

The 53-year-old further revealed that Vince McMahon’s response to all of this shocked him.

In the same video, Angle continued, I’m reading the text messages, and as I am reading it, Vince says, ‘You wanna beat my ass?’ and he stands up and take his jacket off. He goes, ‘Let’s fight right now’. And I’m like, ‘Holy shit! My boss, the man I look up to as a father figure wants to beat my ass.”

He stated that even Shane McMahon was halfway up from his seat in order to protect his father. However, Angle did not want to fight with anyone, and quietly left the room, while crying to himself. Angle would later be released by the company, and he would join other promotions. However, a few years later, he would make his comeback and have his final match in the company.
