After a month of trading blows outside the ring, Dwayne Johnson’s eldest daughter, NXT star Ava Raine, and 31-year-old Ivy Nile finally met inside the ring. This was Raine’s first televised match, three years after signing with the WWE. It brought with it a lot of expectations since the 21-year-old is WWE’s first fourth-generation superstar. However, fans were left disappointed with her efforts, which lasted for a short time.

Ava Raine picks up a win in her first televised match

On the June 6 episode of NXT, The Schism and Diamond Mine went toe-to-toe inside the squared circle. Raine and The Dyad (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid) locked horns against Ivy Nile and the Creed Brothers- Julius and Brutus. While the match was dominated by the brothers, who wowed the crowd with their athleticism, Raine and her stable won the encounter.

Fittingly, the debutante landed the blow that ensured their victory. But Raine hit Nile with a metal mask while the official was looking elsewhere, to knock her opponent cold and pick up the win. What could be better than getting your first victory in your debut TV match? Especially given her rich wrestling heritage.

But the fans weren’t satisfied with it. Over the last few weeks, The Rock’s daughter has been subjected to taunts from fans online. They have reminded her of her father’s legacy and her own weakness inside the ring. And while Raine did respond to criticisms a few days ago, the negative comments from fans are yet to stop.

Fans question Ava Raine’s lack of improvement

Raine made her first NXT appearance in October 2022. She spent over two years at the Performance Center prior to that, after signing with the WWE in February 2020. After a sedate start to her NXT career, the 21-year-old finally picked up the pace and enjoys more airtime since May.

But fans are still doubtful about her wrestling abilities. They have also started comparing her to her legendary father, who gained popularity for his electrifying performances inside the ring.
