NXT superstar Finn Balor names two opponents he would want to face in his home country of Ireland.

Finn Balor was the next big thing in NXT, back in 2014. He was the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history before Adam Cole arrived.

On his debut night on RAW, he won a fatal four-way match and defeated Roman Reigns to become the no.1 contender for the Universal Championship. The Demon King then defeated Seth Rollins at SummerSlam to claim the gold.

Unfortunately, he was forced to relinquish his title the following night on RAW due to his shoulder injury. Since that injury, Balor’s career has been on the downfall.

After mid-card rivalries and title reigns, Balor returned home to NXT in 2019. His NXT colleague Robert Stone currently manages NXT superstar Aliyah.

Stone is seen trying to persuade many superstars to join the Robert Stone brand but to no avail. Interestingly, Stone decided to take a level up and sign a Hall of Famer with the Robert Stone brand.

However, the Hall of Famer had demands of his own in case Stone wanted his signature. Check out this interaction below.

WWE Announces The Next Opponent For Finn Balor

Finn Balor responds to Edge’s proposal for NXT Takeover

In an interview with Mirror Irish, Finn Balor accepts Edge’s challenge and also names one more WWE superstar he would like to face at NXT: Takeover Dublin.

“Somebody was talking online about possibly challenging Finn Balor at NXT Takeover and that was Edge. Edge was saying he wanted to face Finn Balor at Takeover so if we could do it at Takeover Dublin all the better. An absolute legend in the ring, but what an absolute gent and a true pro outside the ring.”

Balor also admires Edge and Christian’s transition outside the ring and wishes to emulate it when his career ends.

“I’ve always said it to both him and Christian that when they retired, I met them at a couple of media appearances and I said: ‘lads, you two are like how I’d look to transition out of wrestling – to carry yourself with such professionalism’. To see him (Edge) back is fantastic. Getting the chance to wrestle with him would be even better.”

However, if Balor cannot face Edge there is one more superstar The Demon King wants at NXT: Takeover Dublin.

“Yeah, I think me and Sheamus have wrestled in Dublin before but I think if we do it again we’d do it properly,” he added. Sheamus is a top man, I think he’s someone who’d be fantastic in NXT. A lot of the boys on Raw would be saying ‘Oh you don’t want to be in the ring with Sheamus, he hits you really hard’ and I’m thinking that sounds kind of normal to me for where I’m from.

“I was NXT champion and I was doing a tour of Europe and they put me in with Sheamus every night and I remember the first night he hit me, and I hit him back.

“And it was like we had a mutual understanding… I love being in the ring with Sheamus and I’m a big fan of him. He keeps evolving and it’d be a big coup for NXT if we can get him down here.”

In 2011, every dream match which had Edge in it would have been shattered due to his injury and retirement. However, since his return in 2020,  these matches can definitely take place.

Edge has performed on various shows like RAW, SmackDown, Heat and Velocity. It would be great to see the Rated ‘R’ superstar on the Black and Gold brand.

As for Balor’s match with Sheamus, we would surely love to see it in a WWE ring.

Finn Balor and Sheamus, both come from Ireland and them going against each other at NXT: Takeover Dublin would get the crowd roaring. This match could very well be the famous and evergreen Celtic vs Rangers of the Pro Wrestling world.
