Dominik Mysterio Teases New “Prince Mysterio” Character for WWE

Dominik Mysterio made his debut at SummerSlam. Since then, he is getting a great push from WWE. Although he has been around WWE programming since he was a kid, reports state that WWE wants to reinvent his character.
Previously, there was news that Rey Mysterio trademarked the name “Prince Mysterio.” However, Dominik debuted under his own name and without a mask. Dominik told Chris Van Vliet that he might become “Prince Mysterio” after all.
“There’s still talks about [wearing a mask]. We would like to eventually get into the traditions of Lucha Libre which would be putting a mask on me and taking on the name, but I think that’s all down the line in the future.”

He understands that everyone knows what Dominik looks like but he is hopeful about the new character.
“Everyone knows my face and what I look like. The idea of wearing a mask is to hide your identity, to be able to go out to places and stuff like that. I think I can come up with a unique way to bring a mask into my character.”
However, when the opportunity comes, he won’t be becoming Rey Mysterio.
“My long goal would be Prince Mysterio since Rey in Spanish is ‘king’. For my character, it would be Prince Mysterio. I don’t know… we will see where it goes.”

Being the son of Rey Mysterio definitely has its perks. Despite being in the industry for years, Dominik never thought he would be fastracked to success.
Dominik wanted to sign with the company but the opportunities came sooner than he expected. He wanted to make his way up from the Indies to the Performance Centre to the main event; however, he got the opportunity at SummerSlam itself. He fought his first match ever at SummerSlam 2020 against Seth Rollins.
