AJ Styles Says He Is “Relieved” to Leave Smackdown

Day one of the 2020 WWE draft raised many eyebrows, with AJ Styles leading the charge amongst dissatisfied Superstars. Styles got drafted to Raw in the second round proceedings.

 

The Phenomenal One wasn’t very impressed with the officials from FOX and USA. The reason for this discontent was him not being the number one pick for either brand.

As soon as Styles was drafted to the red brand, he sent a video from home. While he wasn’t happy about not being number one, the former Intercontinental champion was relieved about a few other things.

Even though the draft wasn’t a memorable one for AJ Styles, there were definitely some big moments that stunned the WWE Universe.

Raw’s first draft pick was a blockbuster with the USA Network retaining the services of WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. SmackDown went for the next big champion in the WWE i.e. Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

The first big change struck when SmackDown brought in the now Friday Night Messiah or SmackDown Saviour, Seth Rollins.

In a backstage interview, the Architect said that he was looking for a change. However, that may not happen soon as Rey and Dominik Mysterio have been drafted to SmackDown as well.

The big pick for Monday nights was the Phenomenal AJ Styles while SmackDown got the eagerly awaited Superstar, Bianca Belair. Naomi made the move over to the red brand while SmackDown retained Sasha Banks.

Raw strengthened their women’s tag team division with quality additions of Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. SmackDown retained the services of Jey Uso.

Mr. Money in the Bank Otis was drafted to SmackDown without his partner Tucker. Otis’ peach Mandy Rose and her partner Dana Brooke were drafted to Raw in separate picks.

The big shocker of the night came towards the end of the show. Newly crowned SmackDown Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods found out that they were on their way to Raw, while their partner Big E was staying on SmackDown. Overall, the first night of the WWE Draft was a tumultuous affair.
