Jeff Hardy successfully defeated the demons from his past as he slayed the celtic warrior Sheamus in the bar fight on SmackDown. While the rivalry tried to add realism to WWE television, it received largely negative respondes.

That was due to a sensitive issue like alcoholism being taken lightly.

Combined with that were some cringeworthy segments like Jeff Hardy throwing his urine on Sheamus (there was way too much urine in this storyline, the latest incident in the bar fight).

Needless to say, the WWE Universe weren’t very happy with two incredible talents like Hardy and Sheamus being wasted on an underwhelming storyline. It seems like Vince McMahon has finally heard them.

Immediately after the conclusion of the Bar Fight, Jeff Hardy indicated that this rivalry might finally be done away with.

Jeff Hardy wants to move on

Jeff Hardy gave a WWE Network exclusive interview immediately after his huge victory. He was happy with how thing eventually turned out, but wants to look forward in life now.

“Wow the bar match was intense just like I expected it to be, but now that this is over, hopefully my dead horse of a soul in the last few months can like finally stop being beat, if you know what I’m saying. Coz man it’s just the demons and the struggles with addiction and alcoholism. I mean it’s kinda overwhelming at times, but now that this is behind me, it’s time to move on to something brighter and better and way more positive but it’s my past so it’s always going to be a part of my life and I look forward to challenging myself and move forward in the right direction.”

Hardy has made it perfectly clear that he’s looking forward to bigger and better things.

What’s next for Hardy?

I’ll be very honest with you. After going through whatever Hardy had to endure during this rivalry, nothing less than a championship run will suffice.

It looks like Vince McMahon agrees with this and there were recently reports that he was happy with Jeff after his Backlash match.

If the story is actually regarding Hardy overcoming personal demons, the only suitable ending would be him achieving paramount success. With that, I see two clear directions from him.

The first one is a claim at the Intercontinental Championship. AJ Styles is playing a brash heel to perfection right now. That can make for some incredible chemistry with a heroic Jeff Hardy.

If you’ve seen their matches in TNA back in the day, you know that the two can put on some fantastic matches.

The second possibility means greater success for Hardy. Therein, Jeff can be given his long-deserved reign with the Universal Championship.

However, a rivalry with the current Champion Braun Strowman would make little storyline sense. Firstly, both of them are babyfaces at the moment and secondly, it’s hard to imagine a rivalry between them being main-event material.

However, imagine what happens if The Fiend Bray Wyatt dethrones Braun Strowman at SummerSlam. A rivalry between The Fiend and The Brother Nero persona of Jeff Hardy is a fantasy match that many fans are dying to see.

With WWE slowly perfecting the art of cinematic matches, Hardy and Wyatt can blow the roof, if given the opportunity.
