If you felt like you had seen enough comebacks this week with the massive return of Roman Reigns, SmackDown had a shocker for you. After weeks of speculations, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn made a huge return to the blue brand!

Zayn made his return following an Intercontinental Championship match on SmackDown. Jeff Hardy opened the show to celebrate his title triumph from last week.

Before he could get into his speech, AJ Styles barged in. ‘The Phenomenal One’ accused Hardy of cheating in their match last week. As per him, Hardy’s knee brace was a deliberately employed weapon. In fact, Styles would be unable to compete this week due to the ‘injury’ it had inflicted.

However, Hardy was in no mood to tolerate Styles’ rant. He issued an open challenge to anyone on SmackDown who was willing to step up to the plate. As soon as he laid down the challenge, Shinsuke Nakamura answered it!

After an impressive back and forth matchup, Hardy gained the victory. As the ‘Charismatic Enigma’ was making his way out, Sami Zayn’s familiar music hit!

Sami Zayn brought back his WWE Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown

As we know, Zayn had relinquished his Intercontinental Championship title. That was because he had opted to stay away from the ring during the pandemic.

An Intercontinental Championship tournament was held to crown the new champ, which was won by Styles. However, Zayn still seems to believe that he is the legitimate Intercontinental Champion. He continuously reiterates on social media that he never lost the title.

Zayn rolled out to SmackDown with his own title. Meanwhile, AJ Styles distracted Hardy. This allowed Zayn to hit a ‘Helluva Kick’ on Hardy, making his intentions clear as day.

A title reunification match up seems in order to solve this problem. We are in for a massive triple threat match, possibly as soon as Payback.
