Sami Zayn Secures Controversial Win Over Former WWE Champion on SmackDown

Sami Zayn was incensed over the blatant favoritism being displayed by WWE. Despite being the WWE Intercontinental Champion, the officials overlooked him and preferred the likes of Daniel Bryan. Zayn complained how WWE Officials made a non-title match between him and Bryan without consulting him.

Before tonight’s match, Zayn came up to the ring and ranted about how WWE management was trying to sabotage him. Bryan came up to the ring amidst fan cheers.

The match started as Zayn stalled the ‘People’s Champion’ for some time. Zayn gained the upper hand as he stomped and headbutted him.

Bryan tried to gain some momentum as he knocked him down to the floor. Bryan tried to jump on Zayn, but Sami side-stepped and sent Bryan crashing face-first into the barrier’s top.

Zayn kept his control for a while. However, Bryan got an opening with a big Frankensteiner for a close 2 count. He tried to work on Sami’s arm with armbars and hit a dropkick.

Sami Zayn won the match against Daniel Bryan under strange circumstances

Bryan was going well as Zayn avoided a roundhouse kick and went to the apron. Bryan again tried to go for the arm but got hit with a brainbuster on the apron instead.

Bryan made it back at the 9 count as Sami immediately hit the Blue Thunderbomb in the middle of the ring. Bryan kicked out at two and after some scuffling, locked in the Yes Lock.

Sami broke the lock, but he got two back-to-back suicide dives, one on the announcers table. The second dive sent Sami to the bottom of the ramp as the Intercontinental Champion tried to leave the match.

Sami ran away to the backstage area and Bryan chased him to the back. Although Sami ran back down and got in the ring at the 9 counts, Bryan was nowhere to be seen.

Zayn won the match via disqualification. When we went backstage, we saw Jey Uso assaulting Bryan relentlessly. Kevin Owens and the WWE Officials separated them.
