WWE Star, Who Previously Served in U.S. Army, Once Explained the Importance of Veterans Day: “My Uncle Passed Away..”

WWE has a healthy relationship with the United States military. The company has always supported the U.S. Army and formed an excellent connection with them. Every year, WWE also holds its annual special ‘Tribute to the Troops’ event to entertain and show their appreciation to the people who serve the country. In fact, a lot of WWE superstars have served in the U.S. military before making their name globally with the Stamford-based promotion.

Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is also one superstar who has served in the United States Army. Lashley gave three years of service to the army before kicking off his pro wrestling career. A few years ago, the Dominator spoke about his time in the armed forces and explained the importance of Veterans Day.

Bobby Lashley talked about why Veterans Day is important

Over the years, WWE has forged an excellent connection with the U.S. Army. Apart from its annual Tribute to the Troops show, the company also has a longstanding commitment to the military in America and abroad. They partnered with Hire Heroes USA to create job opportunities for military veterans through various programs.

Many WWE superstars like Sgt. Slaughter, Kevin Nash, Lacey Evans, and Bobby Lashley have also served in the U.S. military. Indeed, Lashley belonged to a family with a military background. His father was in the Army for 24 years and his uncle fought in the Vietnam War. Lashley himself enlisted in the army and served for three years.

In an interview with WWE.com a few years ago, WWE star Bobby Lashley talked about the lessons he learned during his time in the military and explained the importance of Veterans Day.

He said that his father taught him a lot from his time in the army. ‘The All Mighty’ also said that discipline was the biggest lesson he learned during his three-year tenure in the forces. Lashley also said the structure and ‘soldering’ of the armed forces were important to mold a better way of life.

Moreover, he explained why how important was Veterans Day. He said, “It’s very important. I mean Veterans Day is very important to me. My uncle passed away. He served in the Vietnam War, and it’s just kinda time that we just reflect on everything that the military has given us.”

Veterans Day is an auspicious occasion for the U.S. Military forces and a day to remember their efforts and sacrifice for their nation. For someone who grew up in a military background, Veterans Day holds added importance for Bobby Lashley.

During his time in the army, Lashley pursued his passion for wrestling and competed under the army’s World-Class Athlete program. He also won a gold medal in freestyle amateur wrestling at an event hosted by the International Military Sports Council.
