Brock Lesnar left WWE in 2004 because of the hectic schedule the company had. He wasn’t able to get any personal time due to the same and decided not to renew his contract.
Even though Lesnar was a top attraction in WWE and a former NCAA Champion, back in his mind he was worried about being without a job.

Around 2007, The Beast Incarnate wished to join another wrestling company after settling the lawsuit with WWE in 2006. Alongside NJPW, he wished to work for the then-rival company of WWE.
Kurt Angle says Brock Lesnar wanted to join TNA aka Impact Wrestling
In a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show Podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer shared that Brock Lesnar wanted to join TNA. The Olympic Hero recalled the conversation he had with The Conqueror regarding him wishing to join TNA.
The TNA Hall of Famer said, “Okay, Brock calls me. He is not in the WWE. He says, ‘Listen, man. Can you get me in TNA?’ I probably shouldn’t even be saying this now. But you know what? Brock doesn’t care. He said, ‘Hey, what are you making?’ And I said what I was making. He said, ‘If you can get me that, I’ll come.’ I approached TNA, and they said, ‘No, we’re not going to give him that kind of money.’”

Lesnar was a freeman in 2006 from the non-compete contract he blindly signed with WWE while departing in 2004, which he has talked in his autobiography. He was still in contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and had won the IWGP Heavyweight title quickly.
However, he went to pursue a completely different career after this. He started training in MMA and after one fight joined UFC and went on the become the UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Why TNA didn’t sign Lesnar?
Kurt Angle was one of the closest friends of The Beast at the time. Therefore, upon learning the amount of money he was making in TNA, Lesnar’s interest in joining the promotion sparked. However, the company wasn’t able to match the money.

The Wrestling Machine said, “You know, TNA, the Carter family funded it for a long time, and then TNA started making their own money, but it just wasn’t enough to bring in another guy for seven figures a year. I don’t think they were capable enough to do that.”
As per Angle, TNA had maxed out their budget at the time. The Carter family had signed top stars like Angle, Sting, and many others who had huge money contracts. Therefore, having Lesnar ask for this kind of money made TNA reject the offer.
