Brock Lesnar was a dominant force in the UFC during his stint. ‘The Conqueror’ won the UFC Heavyweight Championship in his third fight with the promotion and had notched up wins against the likes of Randy Couture, Shane Carwin, and Frank Mir. He also holds the joint record for most consecutive successful UFC Heavyweight Championship defenses.

Another name that comes to mind when discussing domination in the UFC is Daniel Cormier. Cormier won both Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Championships during his time with the promotion. He became the second UFC fighter to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously. Moreover, he is the first fighter to defend titles in two divisions.

He held the joint record for most successful consecutive title defenses until Stipe Miocic surpassed it in the year 2018. This is more impressive when we consider his second title defense came after surgery for diverticulitis against Shane Carwin. He retired from the UFC after suffering two consecutive losses at the hands of Alistair Overeem and Cain Velasquez.

His UFC record reads, 4 wins, 3 defeats, and one bout that was a no contest after the initial result was overturned. Lesnar did win his first fight in MMA which was a TKO. His overall MMA record stands at 5-3-0. Two of his UFC wins were TKO victories, while one came as a submission. His first win in the UFC was the result of a unanimous decision.

Lesnar’s UFC run was short but stellar. Out of his seven matches, six were against current, future or former world champions, while three of his wins came against reigning champions. Lesnar also twice unified the UFC Heavyweight titles.

On the other hand, Daniel Cormier had a lengthy run in the UFC. Cormier made his UFC debut in 2013 and defeated Frank Mir in the first fight. He decided to move to the Light Heavyweight division shortly afterward. After picking up two back-to-back wins in the division, he faced Jon Jones for the Light Heavyweight Championship.

He lost the bout, but was soon back in the title picture after and won the championship by submitting Anthony Johnson in the third round at UFC 187.

In 2018, he faced Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship while holding the Light Heavyweight title. DC won the fight after a first-round knockout. This made him just the second fighter to hold the two titles at the same time in the UFC.

Later that year, he successfully defended the Heavyweight Championship against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230. Thus, he became the first UFC fighter to defend both Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight titles successfully.

In 2019, Stipe Miocic ended Cormier’s reign as Heavyweight Champion after a fourth-round win at UFC 241. A third bout took place between the two at UFC 252 in 2020, which Miocic won. Afterward, Cormier announced his retirement.

DC had an impressive UFC record that read, 11 wins, 3 losses and 1 no-contest. Cormier’s overall MMA record stands at an impressive 22-3-1. In UFC, he had 3 TKO finishes to his name, while he submitted his opponents 4 times inside the octagon. Interestingly enough, during his long UFC career, only two fighters were able to beat him. DC’s career in UFC is legendary given his accomplishment of winning two titles in two separate weight classes. UFC inducted DC into the Hall of Fame in 2022.

Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Cormier nearly happened in the UFC. In 2018, after Cormier defeated Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight title, he called out Brock Lesnar. The former WWE Champion made his way to the octagon and shoved the newly crowned champion. This led to both fighters bad-mouthing each other and having to be separated.

During this time, the speculation was intense about Lesnar returning to the octagon to face DC, but it never materialized. But as fate would have it, a match between the two may be possible, but inside a WWE ring.

A pro wrestling fan, Cormier will serve as the special guest referee for the Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle Fight Pit match at Extreme Rules. Although it could be a one-off appearance, there is a possibility of him and Lesnar crossing paths in the near future in WWE.
