Stone Cold Comments on The Undertaker Legitimately Breaking Mick Foley in Half in 1998: “It Damn Near Did Kill Him”

The Undertaker has been part of many big matches in WWE. One of these matches was the 1998 Hell in a Cell against Mankind (Mick Foley). That match is one of the greatest and most brutal Hell in a Cell matches to have ever happened.
In the match, Mick Foley took two falls from above the steel structure to the ground. The Cell structure was 16ft high. Foley’s first fall was part of the match, but the second one wasn’t.
Stone Cold Steve Austin recalled a question by a fan claiming that both the falls were already pre-planned as there is no other way to get down the Cell except for taking a fall.

Austin also said that the first fall was planned. However, about the second fall, Undertaker was supposed to give him a chokeslam, and he did and the cell wasn’t supposed to break.

Austin said, “But it was such impact from Mick being so high in the air. His body weight going against that hurricane fence, there wasn’t enough ties up there to hold him down and he crashed right through that fence and hit the mat.”
Austin claims it was a complete failure of the fence. Foley would have died on the spot if he had fallen in a more twisted position. Austin also added, “I don’t know how they were gonna get down there for the pinfall or maybe the referee was gonna count the fall on top of the cage. But that fall was not planned.”
Austin remembers this match more as nobody remembers his match against Kane for the WWE Title in the main event on the same night. Foley and Undertaker, even after their brutal match, came out to interfere in Austin and Kane’s match as planned.
Austin also told that however impervious Foley is to pain, he also wouldn’t agree for that second fall. Foley earned Austin and Undertaker’s and even fans’ respect that night.

When asked Undertaker what was he feeling while watching Foley falling on the table from above the cell. He said, “I describe this, my perspective on this and as hokey as it may sound, this is the closest, when I threw him off here, that I’ve ever had to an out-of-body experience.”
