Xbox Takes a Sly Dig at PlayStation Following PS5 Showcase Announcements

The PS5 Showcase kicked off in spectacular fashion as the world finally got to know the price and the launch date for the console. The Digital Only version will be available for $399 and the disc + digital version for $499. The console will come to select countries on November 12 and to the rest of the world on November 19.

The Showcase revealed that the PS5 would first be available for pre-order in USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. Fans immediately took note and reacted to this. Meanwhile, Xbox saw this as an opportunity to take a dig at their rivals.

PS5 Pre-Orders are Chaotic and Sony Needs to Resolve This

This was a brilliant move. There had been a lot of confusion regarding the PS5 pre-orders since Sony had already announced that the pre-orders were beginning on September 17, 2020. Xbox turned this in their favor, took a jibe at Sony and tweeted, “(don’t worry – we’ll let you know the exact time pre-orders start for you soon)”

Xbox’s tweet still doesn’t change the fact that Sony made some exceptional announcements at the Showcase. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War campaign gameplay and Spider-Man: Miles Morales blew everyone away. However, Sony still wasn’t done since it had saved the best for the last. Just when everyone thought the Showcase was over, Sony took out its ace in the hole – God of War: Ragnarok. The highly anticipated title was confirmed to arrive in 2021 and sent the fans into a meltdown.

The price of the PS5 is more or less similar to the Xbox Series X. The only difference is, both companies have different products altogether. While one can compare the PS5 to the Series X, the same cannot be done for the PS5 and Series S. Both console giants announced two different approaches to the market and there was no clear winner between the two. The answer to who won the console war is currently unclear and should be answered after the results come post the launch in November.
