Dallas Cowboys were in the news all throughout the offseason due to the Dak Prescott contract issue. Their starting quarterback failed to agree on a long-term deal with Jerry Jones and his team before deadline day. As a result, Dak will now play on a one-year franchise tag that will see him earn $31.4 million this season.

Another talking point for the Cowboys over the last couple of months was the acquisition of highly-rated rookie wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL draft. Lamb was part of the Oklahoma Sooners team that made their way to the College Football playoff semi-final. They lost to eventual National Champions Lousiana State University (LSU) led by number one draft pick Joe Burrow.

Despite that setback, Lamb announced that he would forego his senior year and take part in the NFL draft. He was picked by the Cowboys in the first round (17th overall) of the virtual event. He recently linked up with his new teammates – Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup – at the start of preseason training camp.

While speaking about his teammates to the team’s official website, Cooper had words of praise reserved for Gallup and Lamb who will reduce his workload in Dallas this season:

“You have to draft the best player on the board — everybody understands that. I think he’s a great receiver. And I think with me and Michael Gallup going for 1,000 yards last season, I think the expectation is to have three 1,000-yard receivers this year.”

“I think he’s a quick learner. He already has a good foundation, he’s fundamentally sound as a route runner. It’s very small, nitpicky things that I help him with, that I may see — him being a rookie,” Cooper said via NFL Network.

Amari and Gallup both posted 1,100 receiving yards in the NFL last year. Meanwhile, Lamb also crossed the 1,100 mark in both his final years while playing for the University of Oklahoma. With the experienced Dak Prescott calling the shots in Dallas, the arrival of Lamb will certainly boost their chances of making the playoffs in 2020.
