The mutual disdain between Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia erupted 2013 Players Championship, but the animosity-hatred even-between the two has been boiling just below the surface for over 20 years.
“The reason Tiger dislikes him is that,” Earl Woods said. “In the clubhouse once, he saw Sergio looking up at a television monitor and rooting somebody’s golf ball out of the hole.”
The professional rivalry began when Woods won the 1999 PGA Championship against Garcia with a one-shot lead. The latter felt embarrassed after Woods signed a hat for him. However, Garcia later made it even by winning a TV event in 2000 against Tiger.
“It’s nice to see, and it’s impressive,” Sergio said about his rival’s victory at the 2019 Masters. He explained that to be able to win a major on the comeback after several injuries is more than impressive.
Garcia and Woods had a professional rivalry going on between them. Even though they haven’t officially stated anything, the recent comments from Garcia reveal that the golfers have no bad feelings for each other.
