How Many Teenagers Have Won on the Korn Ferry Tour?

The Korn Ferry Tour is the developmental circuit for the professional golfers, a stepping stone towards success on the PGA tour. Many legends were born here, while for many, the Korn Ferry Tour was a short stage in their career, quickly ascending up the ladder.

Nevertheless, in a shocking statistic, only three teenagers have ever won a title on the tour. Teenage sensation Akshay Bhatia joined Jason Day, winner of the Legend Financial Group Classic in 2007 and Sungjae Im, who had won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in 2018. However, both were a couple of months younger than the Indian-origin man, who became the first American teenager to accomplish this feat!

Moreover, looking at the success garnered by the two, it looks like Akshay might have a bright future ahead! Day, currently 34 and an active golfer on the PGA tour, boasts of 12 wins on the tour. Im, on the other hand, only 23, already has two wins to his name, including the Shriner’s Children’s Open in 2021.

Akshay Bhatia, a few weeks shy of his 20th birthday, won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in a lopsided victory. Announcing his breakthrough to the world and impressing the golf world, he has turned into an overnight sensation. The man who bypassed college and turned into a professional despite being on the receiving end of heavy criticism showed the world his immense talent.

Talking about what lay ahead of him, he said, “I’m just excited to play next week. I have never had a schedule. Just to be able to have a schedule and obviously look forward to playing certain events… there’s just all those things I get to look forward to this year. I would like to win three and get promoted to the PGA Tour, so I guess that’s my goal.”
