The Phoenix Suns extended their winning streak with a seventh consecutive victory on Sunday night, facing the New York Knicks in an away game without Kevin Durant. Initially appearing as a comfortable win for the Suns, the New York side, led by Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, nearly secured a comeback in the final moments. However, Devin Booker had other plans.

Booker delivered a stellar performance to secure the win for the Suns. Owing to his excellent effort, especially his game-sealing three-pointer, Booker is now being hailed as the ultimate hero.

In the latest episode of the podcast ‘Old Man and the Tree’ hosted by JJ Redick, the discussion revolved around Booker’s heroics. Tim Lager, who is a regular on the podcast, said, “Well, I think this is the biggest evolution in his game, and because I didn’t always love Devin Booker as the primary guy making those decisions. He’s a raw scorer, he’s an attacker, he’s a voracious shot-taker, and that’s what he is at his best, and he’s elite at it. So I don’t necessarily always love him in that role.” Book is primarily an attacking guy and the podcasters appreciate his versatility.

The speakers also noted the changed role he has had to play after Chris Paul’s departure to the Warriors. Lager added,I will say this: he has evolved to the point where you trust him a lot more, and I thought actually the Knicks game was probably the best I’ve ever seen him play in that spot.” His comments are particularly noteworthy, as Booker was the primary offensive option in KD’s absence.

Devin Booker assumed the responsibility of leading the team offensively in the absence of Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, he faced a tough start, managing only 8 points in the first half with a 2-8 FG shooting. However, he turned things around in the second half, showcasing excellence during crucial moments.

In particular, with just over 20 seconds remaining and the scores tied at 113, Booker nailed a game-winning three-pointer, leaving only one second on the game clock. He concluded the game with 28 points to his credit.
