In November, NBC News covered a story of a specially abled high-school student hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater. Stephen Curry, the student’s favorite player, saw the story and gave Tanatiuh Ramirez a shout-out. However, Steph went one step further and invited the kid to a Warriors game. Ramirez, who studies at Liberty High School in Peoria, Arizona, made the 25-minute drive to the FootPrint Center to watch his favorite player in action against the Phoenix Suns. Although the Warriors lost that game, Ramirez surely had the time of his life.

Steph came out to interact with him before the game. Ramirez even managed to assist Curry in his pre-game workouts. However, Steph saved best for the last, as he gifted Ramirez a signed Warriors jersey and a pair of autographed game-worn sneakers after the game.

In a recent interview with NBC’s Nightly News host, Kate Snow, Ramirez flaunted the jersey and sneakers that were signed by Stephen Curry. The high school student is a part of coach Jesse Wilk’s Unified Sports Program for students with special needs. When the host quizzed Wilks about the surreal moment, she said, “Steph shot and then gave him this little side high five, which was just the best.” 

Curry even took time to provide words of wisdom and guidance to Ramirez, offering valuable advice as the young high schooler aspires to pursue a career in professional basketball. In a post-match conference, Curry talked about his encounter with Ramirez. He said, “I appreciate the passion of him as a basketball fan. His goals that he has set for himself. That’s what basketball can do.” This isn’t a one-off incident, as Curry has constantly used his wealth and fame to make the world a better place.

Stephen Curry’s philanthropic endeavors

Stephen Curry is not just a basketball superstar; he has also actively participated in philanthropy. Through his foundation, Eat. Learn. Pray., Curry focuses on issues such as education and wellness for children in the Bay Area. The foundation tackles issues like child hunger, lack of education, and limited opportunities for physical activities.
