Toi Irvin, Holyfield's mother, shared a Facebook post revealing that on August 4th, he began "vomiting and experienced shortness of breath and pain in his chest."
In her Instagram caption, she also said, "It’s taken over a month for the doctors to figure out he has an extremely rare heart condition that requires open heart surgery."
She also shared that, "Per the surgeon he will need six months just to recover and heal."
She expressed her sadness, mentioning that her child had never faced such a serious health issue before. She requested fans to pray for the boxer and disclosed that the surgery is scheduled for September 21st.
Evander Holyfield has also shared the post on his Instagram story, and the post included a link to the GoFundMe page.
Many fans have rallied to support the family, contributing around $5,500 out of the $50,000 goal.
