The Mexican fans finally witnessed their native boxer Canelo Alvarez lock horns with the British John Ryder. The fight took place in front of more than 50,000 Mexicans, and the two boxers clashed in an anticipated title defense fight for the ‘Cinnamon.’ As huge as the hype was for the fight, it seems like the fans are not pleased with Alvarez’s performance despite winning via unanimous decision. The 32-year-old won the fight by a considerable margin in the scorecards against the British challenger.

Undoubtedly, Alvarez was the favorite going into this fight with Ryder being the underdog. And this made the fans have high hopes for the Mexican and expected him to deliver a knockout performance. But, it turns out that the champion failed to dispatch his opponent in a manner the fans expected.

The fight between them was off to a slow start with both of them waiting for the other to throw the first punch. But then the fight picked up, and the two looked determined to inflict serious damage on the other. Both fought pragmatically through the fight and took no erratic chances.

As the fight progressed, the fans expected a knockout from Alvarez as Ryder struggled to keep himself steady and even slipped once. But, to everybody’s disappointment, he could not deliver the knockout punch. Moreover, after the fight concluded, some fans even questioned the scoring of the event.
