The music industry has always evolved with technology, from vinyl records to streaming. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a major player in music. In a surprising development, Prince Jackson, son of Michael Jackson, and boxing legend Mike Tyson, have joined the conversation on AI-generated music.
On a recent Hotboxin episode, Prince Jackson discussed AI-generated music mimicking his father's voice. He mentioned that while technology has advanced, it still can't fully capture his father's unique vocal quality.
Furthermore, he raised thought-provoking questions about voice ownership in the wake of AI's widespread adoption.
He said, "I’ve seen, at least with the AI for my dad, that he had something so magical in his voice that I don’t think the computer has been able to capture just yet. But it’s so interesting from the entertainment industry, the music side of things, right? Because what does that mean for artists moving forward? You know, do you own your voice? It’s just a very interesting conversation."
Tyson, known for his straightforwardness, delved into the discussion, framing it in terms of a fundamental aspect of nature: the ownership of one's voice and its authenticity.
As per Tyson, "From a nature perspective, I should own my voice. Just for actual living, I should own this."
