Jake Paul recently defeated MMA veteran Nate Diaz. Despite a previous loss to Tommy Fury in February, Paul is eyeing another accomplished opponent – Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez, the undisputed Super Middleweight champion, discussed the possibility but hinted at certain conditions for a potential match.
During an interview on the Breakfast Club, Alvarez was asked about the possibility of facing Paul in a match. He replied, "For me, not right now because [of] some chasing in my career, but you never know, maybe later."
Furthermore, he also said that engaging in a fight with Paul at this juncture would not only show disrespect towards him but also toward the sport itself.
He acknowledged that Paul deserved recognition, although not necessarily in the realm of traditional boxing.
As per Alvarez, "I don’t disrespect Jake Paul. Whatever he is doing, he can do whatever he wants. It is not for real boxing, [and] my career, [or] a fight in my record."
Alvarez is sure he can stop Paul if they fight, and he believes it won't take much time. He might stretch the fight a bit for the fans' enjoyment, saying, "[Yeah], why not? I think the people are [going to] enjoy it."
